beau•ty (byoo-ty) | butter london

Ever since I decided to paint my own nails I've found a sense of peace doing it. It requires concentration, a steady hand and deep breaths, but I'm getting the hang of it. In fact I'm finding it to be very therapeutic and actually get really excited about painting my nails, especially when I get to test out some new colors.

For awhile I've been admiring and gawking at the various colors available at Butter London.  Since I used to never paint my own nails I would only rely on the colors available at the nail salon and they never carried the brand.  Now that I've promised myself to paint my own nails more often, I'm so excited to finally try the polishes that I've heard so many great things about.

I have to say that I'm truly a sucker for packaging, so I was ecstatic that the bottles are just as cute as the Butter London site.  I was even more excited when I pulled off the top cap and found that each brush handle has a different little icon that represents their brand.

Painting your own nails is truly an art and requires a lot of practice, but I appreciate that Butter London has a wide brush to help ease the difficulty in the process.  I can't wait to try the other colors and I'll definitely be checking out their site often to keep me up to date on the hottest colors of the season.

And just in case you're like me, still trying to perfect painting your own nails, here's something that might help you "stay within the lines".  Just remember to allow at least 2 minutes between each coat to help your nails dry quicker.

|How did you perfect the art of painting nails? Any specific brands you love?|

Pretty! Used to be an OPI fan, but now I actually really love the "Rimmel" brand's brush size (usually at Target, drugstores) and a lot of their colors.

Thanks for the tips! I just mentioned in today's post that I'm terrible at painting my nails because I don't seem to have the time. lol I recently discovered glittery polish, which fortunately doesn't require careful strokes! =)

I have never been good at painting my own nails but I love doing it. I have found my favourite out of what I have is OPI and Essie I use my hands a lot at work so I always see if they can with stand that.

Pretty much with a top coat these last me awhile.I have seen Butter London around a few places so I might just have to try them.

I've never tried butter, I haven't seen it being carried in the places I normally shop.

Though I will say, at the nail salon, they NEVER wait 2 minutes between coats. They always start on the next moments after finishing the previous.

"concentration, a steady hand and deep breaths" YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! I love doing my nails after shower while waiting for my hair to dry :)

My favorite nail polish brand is Rimmel Lasting Finish. It can go as low as $2.99/bottle and the quality is pretty amazing (stays on for at least a week!). I've never tried high-end brand nail polishes so I've got nothing to compare that with :)

Thanks Tabitha! I keep hearing about Butter London, but didn't know what all the hype was about. Will have to check them out! And the diagram is super helpful!!! :)

I love anything that dries in 60 seconds - but I am impatient and lazy. The coat only last a day or two though so it is a trade off.

LOVE Butter London! I always end up with a couple of messy looking nails, but its nothing a Q-tip dipped in finger nail polish remover can't fix :)

I love Butter! they have the bestest packaging ever-- they also have these nail strips that have the cutest design. I don't usually like nail strips, but I'll get those! haha. I also saw this chart on how to paint nails... gotta say, it never worked for me :( MAybe I'm just too clumsy.

My favorite brands are Essie and Butter!

I have some Butter London nail polish at home but have yet to use it.

My favorite nail polish right now is Zoya. It seems to last the longest on natural nails.

Can't wait to try Butter London though!

Great post-I am a sucker for nail polish and paint my own nails every two days or so! I haven't tried Butter London yet but I absolutely love the metallic blue colour! Plus I have saved the nail polish instructional for inspiration :)

i was painting my nails once a week each week over the summer, but i had to stop because with my job and the nail paint my nails were splitting and i needed to give them time to heal up before i stat again.

when getting really serious about it i looked on the internet for painting tutorials which helped me. that diagram you posted is great too!

i LOVE the brand Essie! it's really the best and they have really, fun colors which go on really smooth and even. i always have to use at least two colors and have dimension to my nails. now i wanna paint them!

I've heard such wonderful things about Butter London, I'm thinking of splurging on a color. I'm awful at doing my own nails, even when I take my time. It's such a relaxing exercise, though.
