Mariah Carey's, "Butterfly", Ben Harper's "Forever", 112's "Peaches & Cream", and Rusted Roots' "Send Me On My Way" - these are all songs that have meaning to me. Whether it was a road trip with my best friends, preparing to go away to college, interning at a college radio station or leading a meaningful retreat, these songs have a direct connection to key events in my life. Songs that I listened to over and over on repeat as comfort for whatever was happening in my life at that time.
It's easy to forget great things that have happened in our lives, but it's amazing how music brings back so many fond memories. That's why I decided to create a "Soundtrack of my life" playlist on Spotify. I had a hard time getting my soundtrack started, but once I started, I was on a roll - adding songs like Brian Adams' "Everything I Do" which reminds me of my first slow dance with a boy I liked in middle school, Shania Twain's "Any Man Of Mine" that reminds me of the shenanigans I got into with my best girlfriends as Juniors in high school, Radiohead's "High and Dry" that brought back memories of a horrible break-up in college, and Alicia Key's "If I Ain't Got You" which reminds of the year I was planning my wedding. Honestly it was hard to stop adding songs. I had so much fun reminiscing about the good and bad times of my life which made me realize that I'm one lucky person to have experienced such great things in my (almost) 32 years.
So if you have any interest in taking a trip down my memory lane, you can listen to the "Soundtrack of my life" on Spotify!
